Peace 2000 has flown Santa into places most organisations could not reach — first for the Chernobyl Children's Project, then Sarajevo and Baghdad, working with Red Cross and Red Crescent on the ground. The Baghdad flight drew international attention for weeks and brought a UNESCO nomination for a humanitarian award.
Last year a planned flight had to be cancelled because the money for it had been diverted into a criminal account at an international fintech firm that promises accounts "in seconds, 24/7". What happened to the money after that, only the fintech knows, and it will not say.
Instead of answering, the fintech went to court. It is suing Peace 2000 and its founder to stop them talking about it. It is also demanding three times the money that was stolen, mainly for having used its name in telling the story.
Every door they knocked on explained, politely, why it was not their job to find the stolen funds. The same fast accounts serve millions of people, and the next victim could be anyone.
